The Safilo Group is one of the world’s largest supplier of high quality eyewear. Based in Italy, Safilo oversees an international network of factories, retail stores, and distributors that specialize in lenses and eyeglass frames. Now based in Montreal, the Safilo trademark first appeared in 1934 when Cav. Guglielmo Tabacchi took over the first Italian plant, manufacturing lenses and frames, founded in 1878 in Calalzo di Cadore. Continuing the legacy of the pilot-company of the Cadore area eyewear sector, Safilo rose to the heights of the Italian and European markets. In 2004, Safilo celebrated it's 70th anniversary as it continues to be one of the respected leaders in fashion and innovation in the optical community today.
